Dear colleagues, it is an honour for us in the local organizing committee to welcome you all to the International Mobility Conference IMC17, which will be held in Gothenburg 22–25 June 2020. Coming to Sweden in the summer time also means long bright days and usually very pleasant weather.
Theme
CHALLENGES FOR AN INCLUSIVE SOCIETY
The relation between the human being and the environment
O&M will be highlighted in their relational aspects, focusing on both the human being and the environment. This interconnection will involve physical, as well as social aspects of the environment.
Learning and participation
The conference will highlight individuals of all ages that have to learn to lead a new life due to visual impairment or blindness, and put focus on the meaning of O&M skills for successful learning, where psychological, existential and social aspects will be emphasized.
Theory of orientation and mobility
We want to expand the O&M rehabilitation practice and theory, and will invite scholars and practitioners to contribute to an enhanced theoretical knowledge relevant for various ages and groups.
VISION 2020
The conference will welcome presentations related to VISION 2020. “A world in which nobody is needlessly visually impaired, where those with unavoidable vision loss can achieve their full potential.” (WHO). We hope thereby to uncover new and potential solutions for living a healthy life.
